I asked myself the same question, I am still in school and I am getting a
degree in computer science and I think I am a bit overqualified for the
testing job, but the fact is that you need all the experience you can get
if you are serious about getting a career in gaming. I love games just as
much as any other gamer and someday my dream is to design some of my own,
but the reality is you don't go straight from college to work for a big
company.
The fact is that companies don't care what your dreams are or how much you
love video games they want someone that knows how to do the job right.
This is why it's very important to build a strong foundation which is why
you have to start at the bottom in other words testing video games. Just
because being a video game tester is known as the bottom doesn't mean it
is a dead end job. What I mean is that if you are going to code video
games or design them you should start at video game testing, but if you
want to become a game tester then by all means continue with that job and
it'll grow into an actual career.
Being a video game tester is a great way to start off a career in the
industry which is why a lot of people start there. Remember that you need
as much experience as you can get in order to progress in the video game
industry. So if you're studying or thinking about getting a career in
